Club Health Check

Your club, clear on what comes next

A fixed-price governance review and strategic plan for community sport clubs. In one focused piece of work, your committee gets an honest picture of where the club stands, agrees its priorities and leaves with a plan everyone can act on.

$1,500. Designed to fit the Victorian Sporting Club Grants Program.

The problem

Most committees know something needs to change. Few have the time to work out what.

Volunteers are stretched, the same people carry the load, and the strategic plan (if there is one) has not been opened since the last AGM. The Club Health Check gives your committee a structured, outside view of the club and a short, practical plan to move forward, without adding months of meetings.

What is included

1. Governance review Every committee member completes the Club Pulse Check, and we review your constitution, key policies and any existing plans to find the gaps.

2. Facilitated committee workshop A three-hour session to work through the results together, test assumptions and agree your club's top priorities.

3. Your strategic plan on a page A clear three-year plan on a single page, with a priority action list showing who is doing what and by when.

4. 30-day follow-up A check-in call a month later to review progress, unblock actions and keep momentum going.

How it works

Diagnose We gather your committee's Pulse Check scores and review your key documents to see where the club really stands.

Decide In the workshop, your committee agrees which two or three priorities matter most right now.

Design We turn those priorities into a strategic plan on a page with clear actions, owners and timeframes.

Deliver Your committee gets to work, and we check in after 30 days to keep things moving.

FAQ

How long does it take? Most clubs complete the Club Health Check in four to six weeks, depending on when the committee can meet for the workshop.

Who needs to be involved? Your committee. Everyone completes the Pulse Check, and as many committee members as possible attend the workshop.

Can we use a grant to pay for it? The Club Health Check is designed to fit Category 5 of the Victorian Sporting Club Grants Program, which funds up to $1,500 for governance and planning. We provide an itemised quote for your application. Funding decisions are made by Sport and Recreation Victoria.

What if our grant is not successful? You can still go ahead with the Club Health Check using club funds, or wait and reapply in the next round.

We have already done the Club Pulse Check. Do we start again? No. Your committee's Pulse Check results become the starting point for the governance review.

How is this different from the Club Development Program? The Club Health Check is a focused, fixed-price piece of work that gets your committee clear and moving. The Club Development Program goes further, with multiple workshops and ongoing support. Many clubs start with the Health Check and continue into the Program, building on the plan they already have.

Do you work with clubs outside Victoria?

Yes. We work with clubs across Victoria and New South Wales. The grant is only available for clubs based in Victoria.
